The Initial constructional works connected with building a new steelworks at the territory of Upper Silesia has been already started in 1798 on Scottish engineer John Baildon's initiative, and the substantiated beginning of steelworks named "Królewska" is year 1802. In this year two blast furnaces were activated. The pour of pig-iron from the first blast furnace was effected on 25th of November 1802 and that date is considered to be a inauguration of production activity of the steelworks. From the beginning of its existence Huta Królewska steelworks was the government property.
